ReCreate

Re-Create was a 2 week long pilot project to test the limits of social skill sharing within carpentry. The project was designed to harness the power and energy of a group of ‘students’ and ‘masters’ to work together to make a market stall using waste and sustainable materials. Built on a crowd sourcing platform named Goodsted that kickstarts projects based on voluntary time and skill sharing.

Within this project I led and organised the 12 volunteers who offered time in exchange for social value and shared skills with one another. Taking what was once an empty wooden shipping container and dismantling it to reassemble with added functionality and uses.

The crate could be moved and morphed into 3 different positions all with unique characteristics designed for either an Exhibition Stand, Market Stand or a Meeting table depending on how the user plans to use it.

This project was a proof of concept something great could come from the hands of many people who all have a shared passion for upcycling “waste” material into something that benefits all without an extensive budget.
